I love the look they give, but I don’t know the individuals in those papers and cut outs. I wanted to give my art the same effect in my journals and things, but from using images of my own family members.
I was able to achieve this task by scanning and editing some of my sons’ pictures from long ago to current day and by creating a digital agglomeration. I uploaded pictures from my photo albums into Photoshop, used the camera raw filter blending tool on them and added the photos to an 8.5” x 11” collaged sheet of memories. To see the Photoshop tutorial on how to add, edit, and print the photo collage sheet check out the YouTube video on it.

I then printed out the collage sheet, fussy cut some of the images out, and added them to some tags for a journal I was making featuring my boys in it.
I cut up some black 110lb cardstock, and added some torn paper remnants, doilies, die cut shapes including the Tim Holtz “Steampunk Parts” and “Trinket Frames”,
glued on the fussy cut out images of my sons at various ages, added some wooden gears, purchased from the Facebook group, “The Trinket Parlour“, added some eyelets, and some jute string and the tags were complete. I inserted them into the journal.
The theme and title of the album are, “My Little Stars”. I based it on the Fourth of July, with my sons being the “stars”. The completed Journal has some of the tags made from the collage sheet, along with the images I created in another Photoshop tutorial, “Photoshop Round Clipping Masked Photos”, among others.
This was a very fun project. Feel free to check out my other tutorials. As always, thanks for checking in.
Happy Crafting.
