September Hues -Week 2: Shades of Brown

So for week two of the September Hues (9/6 – 9/12, 2020) I am designing with shades of Brown.

Brown Color pallette

Rakuten Marketing Welcome Program

Similar to week one, I began by opening up a new print, 12″ x 12″ file in Adobe Photoshop CC 2020. Under “Preset Details” I set the resolution to 300 pixels /inch, the “Color Mode” to RGB color 8 bit, “Background Contents” White, and Color Profile to, “Working RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, with a Pixel aspect ratio set to “Square Pixels.”

On the background layer (layer 0) I changed the color to a brownish tan tone. I added a new layer (layer 1) and used a number brush I acquired from Sahin Designs on Pixel Scrapper, across the page.

Next, I added a picture as my focal point and began to build around it. I added some elements and papers from the Pixel Scrapper collaboration bundle called, “The Good Life Bundle“. I used the Kit from that bundle called, “Autumn Bramble” by Jessica Dunn. I made sure to use the color pallette to alter the tones to shades of brown.

I then added a layer of paint and used some water styles across it, to give it a raised 3-d look.

I finished the layout with the sentiment, “Water Falls”. This was a very easy and fun project. All you need is your photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, or PaintShop Pro and a great imagination. Gather your papers, elements, and vision and you are off to designing a beautiful layout.

I am a full time working wife and mother of three sons. I love all manner of crafting; From digital scrap-booking to tangible mixed media projects. I love to learn from other people and get exposed to the huge world of art. Creativity is in my blood. I have always sketched pictures since I was a kid, and now with social media (Thanks YouTube, Pinterest, Google images, etc....) I have become so overwhelmed with what project(s) to do for the day. I don't even know where to start. Should I make cards or make my own clay? Or should I design a wall hanging for the living room. I have become ridiculously indecisive with what I want to make. Also, I have become a craft hoarder. From paints, to dies and other cutting machines, to scrapbook paper and other designer card stock and embellishments, I have turned my little kitchen nook into my craft studio. I'm surprised my husband hasn't told me to get rid of all of the craft supplies....ie..clutter. My craft collection addiction is partially what made me want to learn more about digital scrap booking. It is all new for me, but I have invested in the Adobe Photoshop application and I have scoured YouTube on learning different techniques in layering scrapbook images, pages, brushes, and so on. Now I can go to the next level of design by doing it digitally.
